Sep.4,2010Though there have been a great number of wonderful medical advances that have taken place even just in the past 10 years, with a number of medical conditions that haunted people just a generation ago are now completely harmless. But, there are a few conditions for which we still have no cure, and nearing the top of the list is Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
Both types can be devastating and debilitating for those who contract them, but there are a number of great treatment options available now for the people afflicted with either type. Of course, one of the first things that people afflicted with Type 1 diabetes must learn about is the proper purchase and use of insulin syringes in order to regulate the body’s blood sugar and insulin levels.
And though, in most cases, people suffering from Type 2 diabetes do not require regular insulin injections, in some cases they in fact do. It all depends upon the nature of their affliction, and a person’s doctor will be much better able to advise them. If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, here are a few things you will need to keep in mind, and a brief glimpse of how your life may never be the same.
Daily Insulin Injections
Especially if you have Type 1 diabetes, you will likely need to use insulin syringes at least once a day to inject yourself with insulin. With Type 1 diabetes, your body no longer has the ability to process certain types of sugars and turn them into the insulin that your body needs in order to survive. Thus, you will have to artificially inject yourself with this insulin at the same time every day.
Monitoring Blood Sugar Levels Every Morning and Every Evening
With both types of diabetes, you will need to monitor your blood sugar levels regularly to ensure that it is in the proper range. For extreme cases, diabetes patients will have to check their blood sugar after every meal, because the meals you eat will greatly affect your blood sugar levels. Depending upon what it is you eat, your blood sugar can spike significantly or it can drop dangerously.
Watching What You Eat
And, with both types of diabetes, you will need to carefully watch what you eat, and when, because all of this greatly impacts your blood sugar and your body chemistry.
